The Travelling Circus

One of the characters Brandon Ingram plays in The Travelling Circus is a trouble-making mynah. Mind Adventures theatre company is performing the show at the Chennai Metroplus Theatre Festival this week. If you’re in the area, try and catch the play – it’s a black comedy about civil war. It has a singing checkpoint, a lying lizard and a boy who speaks in numbers.

Vidalthal Tree

Crowned in yellow flowers during season, the Vidalthal tree gives its name to the village of Vidalaithivu in the Vavuniya district. A favoured nesting site for bees, the tree is a one-stop honey shop for people in the area.
